How intellectual property ownership works on the Frame Labs platform.
Last updated: March 2026
Ownership Transfer
When a project is completed and the client approves delivery on the Frame Labs platform, full intellectual property ownership of all deliverables transfers automatically to the client. No additional negotiation, addendum, or invoice is required.
This transfer is built into the standard Frame Labs project agreement, which every creative accepts at the time they take on a project. It applies to all creative output produced under the scope of work, including raw files, final selects, edits, and any derivative works explicitly listed in the proposal.
What Is Covered
IP transfer applies to all deliverables defined in the Scope of Work generated for the engagement, including but not limited to:
- Photography: raw files, final selects, retouched images, and licensed imagery
- Video: raw footage, edited cuts, motion graphics, and audio tracks
- Illustration: original artwork, vector files, and layered source files
- Graphic Design: campaign assets, packaging files, and brand materials
- 3D / CGI: scene files, renders, and asset libraries produced for the project
Creative Portfolio Rights
Unless explicitly restricted by the client in writing prior to project acceptance, creatives retain the right to display completed work in their Frame Labs portfolio for the purpose of attracting future projects on the platform. Clients may request a portfolio restriction clause be included in the Scope of Work before acceptance.
Pre-existing Assets
IP transfer covers only work produced for the specific project. Any pre-existing tools, techniques, libraries, or assets owned by the creative prior to the engagement remain the property of the creative. Frame Labs is not responsible for disputes arising from pre-existing IP incorporated into deliverables without prior disclosure.
Enforcement
IP ownership terms are legally binding from the moment a project is accepted on the platform. Creatives who breach IP terms — including unauthorized resale, dual-licensing, or failure to transfer source files — are subject to immediate removal from the platform and forfeiture of any outstanding payments held in escrow.
